School Counseling Department

 

Welcome to the DHS School Counseling Office

The mission of the DHS School Counseling department is to provide all students with a comprehensive school counseling program. Our goal is to promote personal/social growth, academic achievement and career/college readiness for 21st century learners. In partnership with parents, teachers, administration, and community, the school counselor provides support for student growth and advocates for equity, access and success for every student.
 
Upcoming Events:

10/1/19: College 101- The School Counseling Department will be hosting a ‘College 101 Presentation’ for parents/guardians of seniors on October 1st at 6:30 pm in the Auditorium.  This presentation will go over the nuts and bolts of the college application process and will be the same presentation given to seniors during the week 9/23/19.

 

10/7/19 & 10/8/19: UNH College Fair- UNH will be hosting the NEACAC College Fair on Monday, October 7th, from 6:00-8:00 pm and Tuesday, October 8th, from 9-11am.  Over 200 college admissions representatives will be on hand representing their schools.  The event will be held in the Lundholm Gymnasium, Field House. 10/15/19: Financial Aid Night- Financial Aid Night for seniors and their parents/guardians will be on October 15th at 6:30 in the Auditorium.  A financial aid representative will review the ins and outs of the financial aid process.  This event is for Seniors and their parents/guardians.

 

10/16/19: PSATs- Attn. Sophomores & Juniors- PSAT sign-ups are now taking place and the deadline to sign-up is Wednesday, September 25th. The cost is $20 and students can sign-up in the School Counseling Office. PSATs will be on Wednesday, October 16th. For more info click here:  PSATs 2019

 

10/16/19- Deadline for Seniors applying to colleges with November deadlines to meet with their Counselor to request letters of recommendation and to confirm when and where transcripts and other materials need to be sent.

 

10/22/19 & 10/23/19: NHHEAF Financial Aid- A second financial aid event will be a fun & interactive presentation by New Hampshire Higher Education Assistance Foundation (NHHEAF) for seniors during the school day on Oct. 22nd and Oct. 23rd.  There will be a presentation once every block for Seniors in the Auditorium over the course of the two days.  Seniors must sign up in the School Counseling Office to attend one of the presentations and sign-ups will be in October.

 

10/31/19: Registration deadline for AP Exams.  Sign up in the School Counseling Department office.  The cost is $94 per exam.
